custom invitation design process

I know planning a wedding can be overwhelming, but I’m here to help. My job is to help guide you through the process of wedding invitations and paper goods – from initially figuring out what is going to work with your wedding day, how to communicate information to your guests, and how to make your personalities come through in all of the details. I handle all of the planning, timeline, printing and coordination so you won’t have to worry about it. As Olivia Pope would say, “It’s handled”.

So let’s dive in - the design process is fun! This is the part where you get to set the direction, choose your favorite concepts and watch your wedding vision come to life.

step 1: project kickoff

The process begins with a conversation about invitation options, time to get to know each other and to learn more about your wedding day. We’ll go over a questionnaire to get understanding of how I can design the ideal invitations for your wedding!

With your wedding vision in mind, I’ll provide a proposal based on your budget, quantity and the tier option that suits you best. With a signed contact and 50% deposit, we’re ready to roll!

step 2: sketches

The design process begins with inspirational mood boards and 3 sketches of concepts for your design. Each concept will share ideas for your invitation suite including materials, colors, artwork, lettering styles and number of pieces. You will review, provide feedback and choose what you’d like to move forward with!

There were no templates and no fixed formatting; we were able to pick and choose everything! We would definitely highly recommend any couple to work with Vicki!

step 3: proof

With a design direction I’ll move into creating the custom artwork, lettering, and layout of your invitation suite. This will include the wording and information for each piece. You’ll receive a proof to again review, provide feedback and any final information for the invitation suite.

step 4: final review

The last review includes all final materials, information and artwork for the invitations. Review carefully, because on approval they’re ready to hit the press!

step 5: printing

I’ll coordinate all ordering, printing, and coordination. Once all pieces have been complete the invitation suites will be ready for mailing or delivery, and arriving soon to a guest’s mailbox near you!

step 6: paper goods & wedding day details

Once the reply cards are in and the day is drawing near, we’ll work together to complete your wedding with any paper goods and signage needed for the wedding day. Welcome sign, programs, seating chart, place cards, bar sign, dessert signs, thank you - you name it, we’ll create it. With your wedding day style and design aesthetic established, we work together to make sure you have the pieces you’ll need complete with a cohesive look and feel.
